Controlled Vocabulary

The terms HiSci uses, and what each one means.

People

Applicant
A person who has applied to a specific requisition and entered the hiring pipeline.
Candidate
Any person under consideration for a role — an applicant or a sourced prospect.
Prospect
A person sourced by the team who has not yet applied.
Recruiter
The owner of a requisition's pipeline, responsible for moving candidates through stages.
Sourcer
A team member who finds and engages prospects for a role.
Coordinator
A team member who schedules interviews and manages logistics.
Hiring manager
The person the role reports into, who makes the final hiring decision.
Interviewer
A team member on the interview panel who submits a scorecard.
Approver
A person whose sign-off is required to open or fill a requisition.

Requisitions

Requisition
An approved request to hire for a specific role, with its own fields and pipeline.
Requisition type
Why the role exists: New, Backfill, Conversion, or Evergreen (pipeline).
Headcount type
How the role is funded: Budgeted, Unbudgeted, or Replacement.
Remote type
Where the work happens: On-site, Hybrid, or Remote.
Confidential
A requisition that is not shown publicly or to most internal users.

Pipeline

Pipeline
The ordered set of stages a candidate moves through for a requisition.
Stage
A step in the pipeline: Applied, Screening, Interview, Offer, or Hired.
Status
The candidate's disposition: Active, On hold, Rejected, Withdrawn, or Hired.
Score
A 0–100 match score estimating fit between a candidate and a requisition.
Screening
Early review of a candidate's resume and a recruiter phone screen.
Offer
A formal proposal of employment extended to a candidate.

Compliance

EEO category
The Equal Employment Opportunity job category used for reporting.
FLSA status
Whether a role is Exempt or Non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Pay transparency
The disclosed pay range and related statement required in some jurisdictions.
Visa sponsorship
Whether the employer will sponsor a work visa for the role.

Action verbs

Create
Start a new record — a requisition, template, or email.
Edit
Change the fields of an existing record.
Duplicate
Make a copy of a record as a starting point for a new one.
Delete
Permanently remove a record.
Save
Persist the current changes.
Cancel
Discard changes and leave without saving.
Publish
Make a requisition live and post it to job boards.
Close
End a requisition without filling it.
Archive
Move a record out of active views while keeping it retrievable.
Pause
Temporarily stop a campaign or requisition.
Export
Download the current records as a file.
Download
Save a document, such as a resume, to your device.
Expand
Open a panel or document to fill the whole screen.
